Desmond Echavarrie

Desmond Echavarrie, Master Sommelier

Desmond “Des” Echavarrie founded Scale Wine Group in 2016 with a vision to represent a portfolio of small, dynamic wine producers on a national scale. Before starting Scale Wine Group, Des was the director of sales for Realm Cellars and prior to that, a senior wine advisor at Soutirage, helping clients build some of the world’s greatest wine collections. Earlier in his career, he served as a sommelier at Thomas Keller’s The French Laundry in Yountville, Calif. During his tenure at the restaurant, Des achieved the title of Master Sommelier from the Court of Master Sommeliers in 2012. Des led the effort to select wine pairings for each dish in The Essential Napa Valley Cookbook.

Deirdre Bourdet

Deirdre is a natural-born glutton and recovering attorney who now specializes in writing and culinary consulting for the wine, food, and travel industries through her company Hedonism Ink. She moved to Napa originally to practice wine law — the obvious choice for any lawyer with a French culinary degree — but soon realized wine drinking was far more enjoyable. Deirdre left the law to become a wine country copywriter, editor, recipe developer, and secret weapon.

Feed Napa Now

About FNN

This cookbook was created in partnership with Feed Napa Now, a coalition of Napa chefs, restaurateurs, caterers, farmers, and community members coming together with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Napa Valley and the support of donors. Twenty-five percent of proceeds of The Essential Napa Valley Cookbook will support the efforts of Feed Napa Now to cook and provide meals to the growing number of Napa County children and families who are going hungry due to the impact of disasters (most recently the COVID-19 pandemic). Feed Napa Now also allows the restaurant community to continue to do what culinary professionals do best: feed people.
